over the weekend...

i actually accomplished what i set out to do. amazing. that almost never happens. we made a few steps forward in our quest for a self-sufficient, simple life - my first attempt at bread-making actually turned out great. fun and simple, and i was impressed with the consistency and flavor. very few ingredients leads to bread that doesn't weigh you down. the husband and i kept going back for a warm slice with butter and jam. i plan on making this recipe a few times a month. it made two big loaves - one for eating, one for freezing. click here for the easy recipe.

the husband and i also planted our first, small, trial-garden. the sun hits this spot on our deck practically all day, so we are hoping for lots of fresh tomatoes, peppers and strawberries this summer.

if you come visit, we'll share

have a happy monday. xo.

Love the garden! I am making Danny help me with a garden this year too.. We have planted our strawberries but I want Danny to build a box garden. I might have to have him call Cortney to get some advice. We are both complete beginner gardeners.. so we might not actually produce anything but it should be fun!
