i have my moments where i really, really, really miss southern california. the constant sunshine, pinkberry, palm trees, oceans and quaint restaurants and cafes. today, in particular, i was missing brentwood's Susie Cakes. this place truly changed my outlook on cake. the husband bought me their classic marble, last year for my birthday, and it may have been the best cake i have ever eaten. and i'm pretty sure i ate the majority of it. with valentine's day just around the corner, my affinity for sugar gets even stronger and i find myself really, really wanting this cake. all the time. i'd like to say i can hold out until we get back to los angeles, but honestly, i don't think i can. i may have to attempt to make it on my own - even with all my bad luck in the kitchen these days.
anyone have a wonderful marble cake recipe? please share...

Hey Laura. Hope you are doing well. I've been wanting to try Susie Cakes, but usually stick with Sprinkles. I will have to go do a side by side comparison, since they are both in Newport. I don't know how it would hold up, but I could ship you a piece, or the whole cake. :)
